Lights, Creativity, Community!
Community Focused for Women’s Empowerment
Theater is just the beginning for Thycke Girl Productions’s co-founder Yolanda Givens. What started as an entertainment production company has evolved into a full-fledged creative boutique, blending stage productions, small films, and innovative content creation. With a vision to create a dynamic space for podcasts, media, and artistic collaboration, Thycke Girl Productions is redefining what a creative business can be.
The business was born from a shared passion. Yolanda and three collaborators bonded over a community-oriented event focused on women’s empowerment. Combining their love for the arts with a commitment to uplifting their community, they launched Thycke Girl Productions, a platform for storytelling, empowerment, and creativity.
One of the company’s proudest recent accomplishments was the return of their original stage play in December 2024, their first full production in Chicago since COVID. The performance was a major success, reconnecting audiences with the energy of live theater. Building on that momentum, they took the show to Los Angeles in October 2025, selling out and managing all logistics and budgeting to ensure the cast and crew were fully supported.
Yolanda joined the Artisans and Makers Cohort with Sunshine Enterprises to gain business guidance, structure, and networking opportunities. Through the program, she connected with other creatives, received coaching on entrepreneurship, learned about business credit, and gained exposure at events like the Black Women Expo. Sunshine’s ongoing support continues to provide opportunities and resources for growth even years later.
Today, Thycke Girl Productions operates with a team of three, running a venue space at 10456 S Michigan Ave, Creative Space 106 in Chicago. Their focus is on delivering unique artistic experiences while building a creative hub for the community.
Looking ahead, the company is preparing for its next big production: a new original stageplay launching on August 8, 2026, at Morgan Park Academy, 111th St. With a track record of combining passion, business acumen, and community impact, Thycke Girl Productions is proving that the arts can be both creatively fulfilling and financially sustainable.
