Getting to the Root Cause
Turning Hair Care from Appearance to Restoration
Hair care can be more than appearance. For Marquita Daniel, it’s about restoring confidence and helping women understand the root causes behind hair loss. Through MD Trichology, she provides personalized solutions that combine education, products, and ongoing support.
As a licensed cosmetologist, Marquita spent years working directly with clients in the salon, where she noticed a recurring concern: women struggling with hair loss but lacking real answers. Determined to help, she pursued trichology—a specialized study of hair and scalp health—and earned her certification after years of rigorous training. By 2020, her approach to hair care shifted, focusing not just on styling, but on identifying and treating the root causes of hair loss.
That foundation led to a thriving in-person business, but Marquita saw an opportunity to expand her impact. In 2025, she made the bold decision to transition MD Trichology to a fully virtual model. What began as a difficult and emotional shift, closing a long-standing chapter of in-person care, quickly evolved into a breakthrough. Today, she offers a 90-day virtual hair restoration program, complete with consultations, follow-ups, and a specialized product line for hair growth and repair, all delivered directly to clients.
The transition has allowed her to reach women far beyond Chicago, serving clients across the country and around the world. Alongside her services, she has also launched a virtual academy and a structured five-step hair regrowth program, making expert guidance more accessible than ever before.
As she navigated this evolution, Marquita turned to Sunshine Enterprises after being encouraged by a former client. Through the Community Business Academy, she gained the tools to step back and analyze her business more strategically, strengthening her systems, understanding her numbers, and building a sustainable foundation for growth.
Today, as a solopreneur, Marquita continues to refine and scale her business, with plans to bring on additional support to manage day-to-day operations. Her journey is a testament to the power of staying open to change. By embracing new possibilities, she’s been able to expand her reach and impact more women than she ever could in a single chair.
Her advice to other entrepreneurs is simple: if you feel called to start or shift your business, take the leap. Growth often requires letting go of what’s comfortable, and trusting that what comes next can be even greater.
