Vanessa Arroyo

West Side Site Monitor

Vanessa Arroyo is the Site Monitor for the Bilingual Cohort and has recently joined the team this September. She is a footwear specialist who leads a variety of shoe design classes at the Chicago School of Shoemaking in Ravenswood. She earned her degree at Columbia College Chicago where she majored in Fashion Studies (c/o 2011). Aside from teaching, she is a freelance footwear developer where she primarily works with partners in Mexico. Having relocated from New York City, Vanessa is excited to be back in her home town and grateful to work within a community of future entrepreneurs. Having participated in a series of community outreach programs while growing up in Chicago, she understands the important role that mentors play in the development of one's journey. She is excited to give back to the community that once helped her when she needed it most. During her spare time she volunteers at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and Lakeview Pantry.
